Romans 12:3-6

For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgement, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.  For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.  We have different gifts according to the grace given to each of us. – Romans 12:3-6

Dear Lord,

Spare me from two very foolish but common mental intoxications.  Keep me from getting an ego buzz when I can do something really well and keep me from falling into a drunken stupor when I find out my weaknesses.  By your grace endow me with sober assessments of myself that make me rise to the occasion when my gifts are needed and make me ask for help when I am out of my league.  I need you every hour to help me excel in the place for which you have gifted me.  Come by your Holy Spirit and give me the wisdom to be who you have made me to be and do what you have prepared for me, so people who share this time on earth with me will receive the most blessing my life could possibly give them.  All to your honor.
AMEN
