Ephesians 5:20

Give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ – Ephesians 5:20

Dear heavenly Father,

You tell me to give thanks for everything.  When I remember to be thankful it changes my outlook and attitude for the whole day.  So, thank you Lord for the air I breathe and the lungs that still work.  Thank you for my immune system that still manages to catch some diseases before they catch me.  Thank you for the peaceful land in which I live, for the family that sticks close to me, for friends who are there for me.  Thank you for the imperfect car I drive and the adequate home in which I live.  Thank you for your word that saves me and guides me in relationships.  Thank you for the wonders of a sunrise, a morning Cardinal’s song and writers that lead me in devotion and self-discovery.  Thank you for jam on our toast and the milk on our cereal for the soft blanket on my bed and the wife who fights me for it.  Thank you for thousands of planes that did not crash today and the pilots who navigated them, for the men who didn't cheat on their wives, and the wives who didn't turn from their men, and the kids who, in spite of unspeakable pressure to dishonor their parents, decided not to do so. Thank you, Lord, for sustaining this creaking and groaning planet for one more day while many more discover your unending grace.  Give me a thankful heart that lasts until the end of my days.
