When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus. - Matthew 1:24-25
Dear Heavenly Father,
How easily Joseph did the hard thing and took Mary as his wife but forestalled the wedding night consummation for months! How easily he obeyed when my generation has a hard time with abstinence for any reason! How easily faith obeys when the child of God loves his Creator and understands his purpose. Help my generation and me to love you enough and understand your purposes well enough to easily glorify you with a life of purity in an impure world. And thank you for making sure I would know that your Son was holy for my sake by leading Joseph to abstain from his rightful privilege.
